“When we landed at Cuenca airport to continue our long winter journey of 2015 and 2016, Craig was there to meet and greet us. He squired us to his fine digs in the heart of El Centro, where we were welcomed by his wife Ileana with goblets of cold wine and lively conversation.
That was the beginning of a month long stay in one of their brand new, fully equipped, and beautifully decorated suites. A big bonus for us weary pilgrims was the very comfortable queen sized bed in a very quiet back room. Our time there was filled with exploring this great city. After only a few paces we were at the many steps down to the river Tomebamba with its wonderful riverside garden walkways and Madre Park across the bridge. There are many easy strolls through the Colonial Center to Parque Calderon and the Cathedral, with dozens of cafes and shops along the way. But, before you head out, consider a cuppa the ‘best coffee in Cuenca’ at the Café de Nucallacta, which is right there in the Casa Tierra complex.
We very highly recommend Casa Tierra Cuenca to anyone considering a short or long stay. For comfort, value, location, and super hosting, you can’t do better. We ‘guarantee’ it! Happy Trails to all you world pilgrims!”

This place is truly an exceptional place to stay for a longer term. It is fully renovated and offers modern high quality convieniences while still being charming with an old world style. It has a great location in the el centro historic centre. You can walk to all the attractions of the city. There is a cute coffee shop in the building which serves some of the best coffee I´ve had in Ecuador.
